NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 14, 2020
IN THE
BEDFORD VILLAGE FIRE DISTRICT, IN THE
TOWN OF BEDFORD,
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NEW YORK

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Election of the qualified voters of the Bedford Village Fire District (hereinafter called the “Fire District”), in the Town of Bedford, Westchester County, New York, will be held at Youth Room of the Bedford Presbyterian Church located at 44 Village Green, in Bedford Village, New York, in the said Fire District, on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. The polls shall open at 6:00 o’clock A.M. (Prevailing Time) and shall remain open until 9:00 o’clock P.M. (Prevailing Time) or as much longer as may be necessary to enable the voters then present to cast their votes.
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to the resolution adopted by the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Fire District November 26, 2019, the following Proposition will be submitted to the qualified voters of the Fire District for approval or disapproval:


PROPOSITION
SHALL the bond resolution of Bedford Village Fire District, in the Town of Bedford, New York, entitled: “BOND RESOLUTION OF THE BEDFORD VILLAGE FIRE DISTRICT (“FIRE DISTRICT”), IN THE TOWN OF BEDFORD, WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NEW YORK, ADOPTED NOVEMBER 26, 2019, AUTHORIZING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW FIRE STATION ON LAND CURRENTLY OWNED BY THE FIRE DISTRICT LOCATED AT 550 OLD POST ROAD, IN THE TOWN OF BEDFORD, NEW YORK, INCLUDING GRADING AND/OR IMPROVEMENT OF THE SITE AND PURCHASE OF THE ORIGINAL FURNISHINGS, EQUIPMENT OR MACHINERY REQUIRED FOR THE PURPOSES FOR WHICH SAID FIRE STATION IS TO BE USED (THE “PROJECT”); STATING THE ESTIMATED MAXIMUM COST THEREOF IS $15,717,000, INCLUDING PRELIMINARY COSTS AND COSTS INCIDENTAL THERETO AND TO THE FINANCING THEREOF; APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT THEREFOR, INCLUDING THE APPROPRIATION OF $967,000 FROM THE EXISTING “CAPITAL RESERVE FUND FOR REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION AND IMPROVEMENT” THERETOFORE ESTABLISHED, WHICH IS HEREBY APPROVED; AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF SERIAL BONDS IN THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF NOT TO EXCEED $14,750,000 TO FINANCE THE BALANCE OF SAID APPROPRIATION; AND PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL OF SAID BONDS AND THE INTEREST THEREON AS THE SAME BECOME DUE AND PAYABLE,” BE APPROVED?
NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN that absentee ballots shall be made available in accordance with the provisions of Section 175-b of the Town Law and that applications for such absentee ballots may be applied for at the office of the District Secretary. The absentee ballot application must be received by the District Secretary at least seven days before the date of the aforesaid Special Election, if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before such Special Election, if the absentee ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter or his or her agent. A list of all persons to whom absentee voters’ ballots shall have been issued will be available in the said office of the District Secretary during regular office hours until the day of the Special Election and such list will also be posted at the polling place at the Special Election.

All Residents of the Fire District who were duly registered to vote with the Westchester County Board of Elections on or before Monday, December 23, 2019, shall be eligible to vote at said Special Election.
